The Holston United Methodist Church Home for Children requested our help with the FFE package for their new facility on campus, “The Rock”. Thomas Weems Architect designed the mountain-styled building.
Our scope included furnishing interior and exterior areas with economic solutions. The building’s main level is approximately 11,000 square feet with an additional 4,000 square feet of exterior seating space. Furnishings on the lower floor will be provided in a future phase.
Every aspect of this project had meaning and strengthened the client’s core values and mission—”to provide hope and healing for a brighter future by sharing the love of Jesus with children and families struggling with life’s challenges”. This is the central theme of “The Rock” and is particularly relevant in the Game Room.
The Game Room is designed to be loved by children and teenagers, alike. The color palette is bold and bright but not childish. Between vintage games and gaming tables, wall graphics celebrate Bible verses that encourage faith and strength. For different activity areas within the Game Room, we used a wide-range of furniture types. This room was packed to the brim with games, high-top tables, swivel chairs, and lounge furniture.
The chapel features fixed pews coordinate with the room’s neutral finishes. The contemporary worship area was designed with flexibility for different services. The chairs can be placed in rows or stacked out of the way for a musical performance. Custom paintings of Bible stories line the walls in the main entry and contemporary worship room.
